The Close is located within a large three storey Victorian house set in its own gardens in the Roker area of Sunderland, close to the seafront.
The service provides quality residential short-breaks for adults aged 18 to 65 who have a learning disability, following an assessment of need by a care manager.
The Close supports individuals to experience new opportunities; try new activities and develop friendships. It also aims to give parents and carers time to enjoy a break from their caring roles.
The service has ten bedrooms. Eight of the rooms are single-occupancy and two are twin-bedded - enabling friends who are using the service to share if they wish.
The building has two ground floor rooms catering specifically for people who may experience difficulties with their mobility and are unable to access the upper floors. There are no lifts, overhead tracking or hoists currently installed in the building.
Who can use the service?
Adults aged 18 to 65 who have a learning disability.
